AI Design Studio

The AI Design Studio is where emails come to life. Describe what you want in plain English and the AI builds a complete, responsive, on-brand email — then you refine it by chatting. There is no drag-and-drop and no HTML to hand-write.

The Studio brings together everything you need to design an email in one screen: a conversation panel on one side and a live preview on the other. Whatever you ask for appears instantly, and every change is reversible.

What's inside the Studio

  • Text-to-email builder. Turn a prompt into a finished email in seconds.
  • Conversational editing. Refine copy, layout, colors, and structure by simply asking.
  • Live web research. On paid plans the AI can search and read the web mid-generation — current trends, facts, and figures — with every step shown as it happens.
  • Your choice of AI model. Every plan includes a fast default model; paid plans unlock the latest models — Claude Sonnet and Gemini Pro — from a picker right in the chat.
  • Code & preview. See a live preview and, when you want it, the underlying HTML.
  • AI images: generate, remix & animate. Create brand-new images from a description, regenerate and restyle any image already in the design, or animate a hero into a short looping GIF.
  • Remix for My Brand. Apply your colors, fonts, and voice in one click.
  • Template gallery. Start from thousands of professionally designed layouts.

How it works

Under the hood, the Studio is a pure-HTML editor driven by AI. You never leave plain language: you ask, the AI edits the email's HTML, and the preview updates. Because the output is standard, responsive HTML, it renders reliably across email clients and is ready to send as-is.

Create from the dashboard

You don't have to decide where to start. The What should we create? box at the top of your dashboard takes one line and routes it to the right place:

  • “A welcome email for new subscribers” opens the Studio with the AI already working on your brief.
  • “3 versions of a spring sale email” starts a variants run — several design directions from one brief.
  • “Send our product launch newsletter to my list” drafts a campaign and drops you into its wizard with your design brief ready to hand to the Studio.
  • “Welcome emails for new signups, spaced two days apart” creates an automation and opens the flow editor's AI chat with your request submitted.

Your prompt travels with you — the destination surface picks it up and starts immediately, and refreshing the page never re-runs it. Classification uses a single quick AI call, so it draws only a sliver of your AI tokens.

Choose your AI model

Different models have different strengths, so the Studio lets you pick which one powers your chat. Open the model picker in the composer — the chip next to the message box — and choose between two tiers:

  • Fast (default). Included on every plan. Quick, capable, and tuned for everyday email edits.
  • Latest. On paid plans, switch to the newest frontier models — Claude Sonnet and Gemini Pro — for the most nuanced copywriting and layout reasoning.

Your choice is remembered per surface: the Studio chat and the automation chat each keep their own preference, and you can change either at any time. Model choice doesn't change how AI tokens are metered — longer, more complex requests simply use more of them.

Generate variants and keep the winner

Not sure which direction an email should take? Ask for variants: one brief, two to four deliberately different designs. Open the Variants control in the chat composer, describe the email once, and choose how many takes you want. Each variant is generated as its own template with its own chat session, and they arrive one by one so you can start comparing immediately.

When any variant of the set is open, a thumbnail strip appears above the editor. Click a thumbnail to switch — your in-progress edits are saved automatically first — and when a favorite emerges, press Keep this one to retire the other takes. On the Templates page the whole set shows as a single stacked card with a variant-count badge, so your library stays tidy while you decide.

Already have a design? Import it

You don't have to start from a blank canvas or the gallery. On the create-template screen, the Import tab turns an existing design into a fully editable template in the Studio — two ways:

  • Paste HTML or upload an .html file. Bring the raw HTML of any email — exported from another tool, or one you built by hand. We sanitize it for email safety (scripts, tracking iframes, and other unsafe markup are stripped automatically), then open it in the builder ready to edit. Have your brand assets set up? Tick Adapt to my brand and the import is restyled with your colors, fonts, and voice in one AI pass.
  • Upload a screenshot. Only have a picture of a design you like? Upload a PNG or JPG and the AI studies the layout, copy, and colors, then recreates it as a clean, editable email — no HTML required.

Checkpoints and revert

Every meaningful edit creates a checkpoint. If a change doesn't land the way you hoped, revert to any earlier version with one click — experiment freely without fear of losing a good draft. Read more in Editing with chat.

The AI features draw from your monthly AI token allotment. Generating and editing emails, remixing images, and scanning your brand all use tokens, which reset each billing cycle.

When to use the manual builder

Prefer hands-on control over the markup? The manual builder lets you edit content directly. Most people stay in the AI flow for speed and drop into code only for fine-tuning.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any design or coding skills? No. The whole point of the Studio is that you describe what you want in plain English and the AI handles the design and the HTML. If you do know HTML, the code view is there when you want it.

Will my emails look right in every inbox? Designs are built as standard, responsive, email-safe HTML and previewed live, so they render reliably across major clients and adapt to mobile and desktop screens.

What happens to my drafts? Your work is saved as you go, and every meaningful edit creates a checkpoint you can return to. Finished designs live in your Templates, ready to attach to a campaign or an automation. Nothing is sent until you choose to send it.
